Maserati 5000 GT
The Maserati 5000 GT
was the first V8 powered automobile to be produced by this famous manufacturer. It is a model that started the trend of the Super car in the automobile industry. Using the engine of the fearsome 450 S Sports Racing car, the 5000 GT began a new chapter in the history of the marque.
Opening with a foreword by Doctor Adolfo Orsi and Doctor Eng. Giulio Alfieri,
this book traces the complete history of this fabled model and details the events that led to its launch and construction. As the 5000 GT engine was derived from that of the 450 S, a complete account of the background of this model is also presented along with all the official factory race results from the 1957 season. Additionally, the race results of the 450 S in America are also given. But it does not end there; since the engine of the 5000 GT was also used in the Tipo 151 and Tipo 65 cars that appeared at Le Mans, these racing machines are also discussed and their race results presented.
